Mark Sakamoto

MARK SAKAMOTO is the author of Forgiveness, A Gift from My Grandparents published by HarperCollins in June 2014. Mark is a lawyer by training and has enjoyed a rich and varied career. He has worked at a national law firm, a national broadcaster and has served as a senior political advisor to a national party leader. He is an entrepreneur and investor in digital health, digital media and real estate. He sits on the Board of the Ontario Media Development Corporation. Sakamoto lives in Toronto with his wife and two children.

The Book Lover's Ball

On February 5, 2015, The Book Lover’s Ball is celebrating 10 years of bringing together book lovers and top literary talent. With over $3.5 million raised since 2006, it is the Toronto Public Library Foundation’s premier fundraising event. Mark has been invited as one of the esteemed authors participating in this celebration in the stacks of the Toronto Reference Library.

In 2013, The Book Lover’s Ball was the winner of the Canadian Events Industry Award for Most Outstanding Event.

It has also been recognized as one of Toronto’s top 100 events by BizBash Magazine and continues to receive unprecedented corporate support and media coverage. This black tie gala celebrates Toronto Public Library and its 98 branches that span the city and anchor its many diverse neighbourhoods. Last year’s event achieved great success, raising over $530,000.
